In Reality, Trump Will Take Hostages Michael Waltz, the national security advisor to President-elect Trump of Washington, issued a warning Monday that Trump will take a tough stand against organizations or nations who hold Americans hostage.
During an encounter with Ryan Corbett's family
one of several U.S. prisoners, Waltz stressed Washington's commitment to securing the release of American prisoners.
Americans held captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan. He said on X (formerly Twitter) that "We will do everything we can for these families and to halt this madness."
The statements were made as the Biden
administration worked to get three U.S. citizens currently detained in Afghanistan. President Biden spoke with the families of Ryan Corbett, Mahmood Habibi, and George Glezmann on Sunday. Still, according to the Associated Press, no deal has been confirmed to bring them home.
1. Around the time the U.S.-backed government was overthrown in 2021, Ryan Corbett was traveling to Afghanistan for work when he was kidnapped by the Taliban in August 2022.
2. George Glezmann, an Atlanta-based aviation technician, was captured by Taliban intelligence in December 2022 while passing through the nation.
3. Mahmood Habibi has been under Taliban control since 2022, according to the last U.S. intelligence report, but little is known about his present circumstances.
Michael Waltz's remarks also highlight the difficulties
in interacting with governments or organizations like the Taliban, whose demands occasionally thwart diplomatic efforts, and the mounting annoyance in Washington over the detention of Americans overseas.
Waltz went on to reiterate Trump's long-standing strategy of applying sanctions and other pressure on hostage-takers, saying that the nation will not stand for the abuse of defenseless Americans for political advantage or financial gain.

The fate of the three inmates
is still unknown as Biden's government pursues diplomatic measures. Their relatives have urged both political parties to put their loved one's safe return first and have demanded more forceful action from Washington.
